In 2012, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Diamond Jubilee Gold Proof Half Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and housed in a handsome new walnut-veneer presentation case and is accompanied by an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Chief Executive of the Royal Mint.
The new reverse design of the 2012 Half Sovereign Coin depicts a Modern St George and the Dragon, which has been designed by Paul Day, while the obverse has the stunning portrait of Her Majesty, The Queen by Ian Rank Broadley FRBS on the obverse.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
