In 2008, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue St George and the Dragon Gold Proof Half Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and is housed in a handsome new walnut-veneer presentation case and is accompanied by an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Chief Executive of the Royal Mint.
Each of the 22-carat Gold Proof Half Sovereign features the legendary St George and The Dragon reverse design by Benedetto Pistrucci, together with the portrait of Her Majesty, The Queen, by Ian Rank Broadley FRBS on the obverse.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
